What do you get when you cross real Social concern with cutting-edge Technology? You get an up-and-coming Embedded Systems company dealing in end-to-end Industrial IoT Solutions.
When Abdulla Khan, an established, successful entrepreneur wished to start a product based company, he decided to focus on the one area which was destined to grow and grow exponentially – IoT.
In a true-life case of a small startup going on to make big, CASCADEMIC started out small with just one employee in Sept 2012, later three to four people joined and more again as the company expanded.
Ably supported by close friends who were also his ex-colleagues, CASCADEMIC was started in a small house rented out for this purpose opposite Khan's residence, with the office on the first floor and the ground floor serving as employee accommodation.
In keeping with the principles of Abdulla Khan and his wife Shakila of caring for the welfare of their employees, boarding and lodging were provided free of cost initially, and later for a nominal charge.
In addition, as one of the Company's Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, CASCADEMIC has associated with it a Home for Disabled children, run by Shakila Khan.
The company name itself was born out of a deep thought-out process. Shakila felt that the name had to be connected to nature and that it should signify something endless, sort of like a ripple. The cascading waterfall was the obvious connection, and CASCADEMIC Solutions was chosen.
Abdulla Khan strongly believed in onboarding youngsters who were willing to put in hard work, and grooming them with the necessary technical and related skills to become experts in their own chosen niche.
When Abdulla's Khan's son, a sharp, NITK–Suratkal alumnus Tawfeeq Ahmad joined them, the business opportunities opened up further.
Today, CASCADEMIC has many products in its portfolio: Thermal Printers and Controllers, Monitoring and Metering Solutions for Water, Gas, Energy, Industrial IoT Gateway, Telecom Tower Monitoring, Environment Monitoring, Asset Tracking & Smart Agriculture Solutions. All of these solutions are in-house designed, developed and manufactured in India, inline with the “Make In
India” program.
But the very first product that came out of CASCADEMIC, the LC Gate Event logger for Indian Railways will always have its special place.
